Hey Everyone -

I was raised Roman Catholic and am now very, very reformed.  (Nepean Valley Westminster Presbyterian, or Wessie Pressie for more informal occasions. - ie Not Anglican, strictly speaking.) I’m also taking the MTC evening lectures. 

I like: Buffy, Blackadder, Star Wars, LOTR, James Bond, Jane Austen, Harry Potter, knitting, proper tea and really good vegetarian food.  I never met an instrument I didn’t want to play and I never met a needlecraft I didn’t want to try.  Observing sporting contests. 

I dislike: Modern Hollywood romantic comedies, Meat (in a culinary, rather than theological sense), Mr Bean, Vegemite, people who talk during movies I’ve never seen before, Participating in sporting contests. 

Above and beyond all that, I am a child of God.  That’s all there is to it, really.

Returned to practising Christianity—after leaving it during the teens years—at Cabramatta Anglican Church; slowly rised in churchmanship after a wonderful experience in the highest of highs in a church in Dublin: currently attend St Mark’s Granville where I am an usher and on the P.C. and am looking to assist as a server; I also update the web site (shameless plug: ) and have been deigned “Parish Webmaster” by those in authority and have also been instructed to dress like Dumbledore to fit the role.

I love travelling (especially Germany), reading, learning foreign languages, tennis, skiing, writing [poetry mainly], astronomy, visiting churches, delving into church history, hymns, F1, and watching classic movies and theatre.

Until July I was a computer consultant for CMG [5.5 years; specialised in Oracle databases for you techies], but after a merger resulted in some bad experiences and not being listened to I left (hence my being away for a while: I was in no mood to be near a computer! ;-)) and am now voluntary unemployed; I am considering returning to study next year for a career change (teaching is on my mind).

I am also completely insane and have no fear in being embarrassed: just see me dance! - all at my old church were afraid to be near me when the music started if we went dancing! ;-) I enjoy meeting friends for a good coffee or meal, and a good chat and laugh.

TV Show: Kommissar Rex (Amazing Race addictee also...)

Computer Game: Lemmings (simple things for me...)
Meal: Veal Schnitzel and Roast Potatoes with Vegies, and a Crème Brulée for dessert; finished with a nice port.

Yep, that’s the one. They were showing an “aerial photo” of Canberra’s training camp. It was a satellite weather chart showing something brewing over the ACT and they made the comment about Mal Meninga in that context.

Here’s hoping we get to see the Panthers do it again this year!

I’m 32.708 years old, married with two boys, aged 1.204 and 3.970. Born and raised in Wollongong, with strong residual ties there. Live in Seven Hills in western Sydney (contrary to local real estate agents’ desires to be more upmarket, it is not part of the Hills district. It is part of the Blacktown district. Get over it.) Been a Christian for at least 18 years, probably more. Trained as a chemical engineer. Amateur meteorologist and environmentalist. Attends Wentworthville Anglican. One time bass player and rapper, masquerades as a vocalist. Of the low-church, conservative evangelical flavour. Thin, bespectacled, slowly succumbing to greying - not balding, alas. Completed Diploma of Bible & Missions at Moore College in 2000.

Things I like:
Accuracy to three decimal points. Lists. Colourful, baggy clothes. Obscure elctronic music and floor-crunching, gut-thumping phat bass beats. Swapping between third and first person in self-descriptions. Science fiction and fantasy (Lord of the Rings in particular). Being pedantic. Cold windy weather and snow. Reminiscing of youthful days of glory spent cycling, running, playing hockey and squash. Clean bathrooms. www.explodingdog.com. Planning ecologically sustainable house improvements. Wine with dinner. Thorough evangelical scholarship. My wife and sons laughing.

Things I don’t like:
Rowen’s flippant comments - because they’re better than mine. 99% of commercial television. Slavish commitment to consumer culture. Continually underestimating how long it takes to do things. Sloppy reasoning and illogical theology. Nunc’s musical abilities - same reason as for Rowen. Continual cycle of violence in Middle East, Palestine in particular. People who stand in doorways of trains and block you from getting on or off. Lack of environmental thinking across all spheres of human activity. Rockmelon.

I can help with pedantic ways! You don’t like accuracy but precision. That should clear things up.
