PM plans prayer for nation

What does a Prime Minister do when his mail brings in bags of letters asking for a national day of prayer? We now know his staff put them together and send them to the National Council of Churches (NCCA) with a note indicating these requests appear to be a matter for the churches.

Has fashion gone too far?

I am strongly of the opinion that fashion has gone too far in its efforts to bring young moneyed buyers into the orbit of designer labels. Though Southern Cross has never indulged in a Fashion Page I think it’s time for us to carry at least one column of comment about the world of fashion and in particular, fashion advertising.

The Mission Synod. That was Bishop Reg Piper’s descriptive phrase to explain the 2002 diocesan Synod that met last month. In many ways it was quite an extraordinary event, with a totally different ambience from the normal run of Sydney synods.
